The municipal art gallery Haus am Kleistpark, Berlin presents artist Anna Lehmann-Brauns in the fourth edition of the Fotohaus ParisBerlin during the Rencontres de la Photographie in Arles.
The interiors of gay clubs are the focal point of Anna Lehmann-Brauns’ photographs taken throughout San Francisco in 2016. In the USA these spaces are much more than simple nightclubs. Here people who in everyday life are often subject to homophobic attacks can find one another. And from the very beginning they have also been where traditional images of sexual identity are questioned and pioneering impulses for an up-to-date debate in society set.
Anna Lehmann-Brauns (*1967) lives and works in Berlin. Since studying photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig, she has worked as freelance artist. Collaborating with various galleries, her work has been exhibited widely and recognized with many awards.
