Ulrike Gerst and Regina Weiss
The Frauenmuseum Berlin as a guest in the Kammerspiel series.
In a dialogue exhibition, Ulrike Gerst and Regina Weiss show set pieces and fragments of the perception of public space. While Ulrike Gerst captures impressions of a changing urban scene on her forays through the city and translates them into atmospheric watercolours and oil paintings, Regina Weiss focuses on the field of tension between surfaces industrialised by building technology and her physical experience. The resulting works are expansive objects and drawings that remain as traces of a bodily and graphic scanning. The two artistic positions provide a differentiated view of urban space: where, on the one hand, the tranquillity of an image enters the moving urban landscape, on the other hand, the solidified urban furniture bears the signs of emphatic physicality.
