Sayeda – Woman in Egypt
Photographs by Amélie Losier
Berlin-based French photographer Amélie Losier travelled to Egypt multiple times between 2014 and 2016 in order to take portraits and conduct interviews with women of diverse backgrounds and social environs. She was particularly interested in how women move in a public space, where they can be seen and where they cannot. Losier photographed 40 women whose positions in society are dependent on their religion, education, and socioeconomic situation. Her book of the same name was published by Nimbus. Kunst und Bücher.
