Münder
Miji Ih
In her current photographic work, Miji Ih explores the traces of a Korean woman who lived from 1914 to 1991 and was forced to work as a so-called "comfort woman" for the Japanese military in Okinawa during the Second World War. Miji Ih combines her own photographs with historical images in an attempt to let history speak for itself. The exhibition "Münder" [Mouths] poses the question of the extent to which individual experiences, social contexts and political conditions of the past can illuminate issues of the present.
