A Forlorn Hope
Photographs from Afghanistan by Andreas Rost
The Berlin photographer Andreas Rost travelled to Kabul for the first time in 2007 at the invitation of the Goethe-Institut and the ifa - Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen. During his total of three stays in Afghanistan, photographs were taken under the most difficult conditions, in which Andreas Rost intuitively approached the situation on the ground. His black-and-white pictures, which are convincing because of their poetry and aesthetic appeal, give us an immediate impression of everyday life in Afghanistan in those years and also take a look at the existing patriarchal-archaic structures.
