35th Foto-Arbeitsstipendium of the Haus am Kleistpark 2024
The jury for the Haus am Kleistpark 2024 photography scholarship, Maren Lübbke-Tidow (chair), Paul Hutchinson, Milan Koch, Wataru Murakami and Barbara Esch Marowski, has awarded the prize to Mirjana Vrbaški for her project “To Rest in Peace”.
Mirjana Vrbaški focuses on the conversion of Berlin cemetery areas into commercial and residential use using the example of the Dreifaltigkeitsfriedhof III cemetery in Mariendorf. In her examination of the urban oasis of the cemetery, she questions the complexity of human existence on a meta-level.
Marta Djourina and Sibylle Fendt received a recognition award:
In her camera-less, experimental pictures, Marta Djourina takes direct exposures of Berlin's waters, from which new, fascinating forms of arrangement emerge again and again, which at the same time thematise water as a connecting element between humankind and the environment.
“Bevor es soweit ist” is the title of Sibylle Fendt's project. The photo artist accompanies palliative doctors who care for terminally ill people at home. In this way, she deals with the taboo subject of dying.
