Nocturnal Berlin
An installational project – Ingo van Aaren und David Wagner
Part of EMOP 2023 Berlin.
In an installation combining photography and text, photographer Ingo van Aaren and writer David Wagner take up the concept of the flâneur. The idea of the stroller through the city, who consciously emphasizes slowness and attentiveness and gains freedom and individuality through anonymity, was once taken to extremes by Parisian bohemians who took their pet turtles for a walk. Ingo van Aaren's photographs follow David Wagner and a turtle as they wander through Berlin at night. What emerges are points of contact with the city, its texture, and its history - nighttime pieces that in the interplay of text and image create an aesthetic cosmos of their own.
